The Center was created according to the “Agreement about the creation of the Center of Spanish Language and Culture between Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (Ukraine) and Granada University (Spain)” of 2001. The Director of the Center is Associate Professor of the Roman Language sub-department Oksana Mykolayivna Guseinova.

The workers of the Center (on a voluntary basis):
G.G Verba. – Associate Professor of the sub-department of Theory and Practice of Roman Languages;
O.V. Merzlikina – Associate Professor Of the sub-department of Spanish and Italian Philology.
The Center is open for students and teachers of all University departments, who study Spanish language.

The Center’s goal is to promote the learning of the Spanish language and life of Spain, to enlarge social, scientific and cultural knowledge of Center members, exchange of academic, scientific, business and cultural information and materials.

The Center’s activities include regular meetings with native Spanish speakers such as lectures, seminars, disputes, conferences, evenings, presentations, contests. According to this the Center is trying to solve the problem of holding the second (November 2007) and the third (October 2008) Courses of Spanish language teaching methods jointly with the Embassy of Spain and Cervantes Institute; annually participates in holding (DELE) international examinations in Spanish as a foreign language – twice a year (October and April); annually organizes meetings with representatives of the Embassy of Spain and countries of Latin America for teachers and students on corresponding national holidays.

The Center has all conditions for independent learning of the Spanish language with the help of literature and technical means.

The library works every day from 10.00 till 12.00. It can be used by teachers, post-graduate students and students of the University. The Center also gives an opportunity to watch feature films and news in Spanish. The film are shown from 12.00 till 14.00.
