Researches and Projects
Main fields of Laboratory’s research are computer-aided lexicography, training programs and machine translation. Most of the projects are available in electronic form.
Electronic textbook of Ukrainian language with interactive tests, possibility to review mistakes made and save testing results on server. Complex training system is designed for wide audience including high-school pupils, university entrants, students of Philology department and other departments and all those who wish to check and improve his or her knowledge of Ukrainian language.
Frequency lists of fiction literature and political essays and also frequency list of contemporary poetic Ukrainian language. Current dictionary represents poetic vocabulary of best Ukrainian poems of late XX century (volume of sampling is 300 000 word usages).
Grammatical Dictionary of Ukrainian verbs contains paradigmatic, semantic and syntactic peculiarities of approximately three thousand verbs of Ukrainian language and their translation into Italian. This dictionary is a first example of verbs inflexion systematization according to their syntax and lexical semantics in Ukrainian lexicography. It is created for students of institutions of higher education, scientists, Ukrainian language lecturers, translators from Italian.
Program for automatic paradigm synthesis of English noun and verb. Program was created in the framework of bachelor’s paper "Automatic synthesis of noun and verb word forms".
Morphemic and word-building database of Ukrainian language. Goal of the project is to create morphemic database of Ukrainian language (170 000 words) and morphemic and world-building families with derivative meaning of morphemes.
Automatic morphological segmentation of Ukrainian text is a system which creates word-forms indexed with codes of grammatical belonging to certain part of the speech and partitioned into morphs (root and affix) with appropriate indexes out of word-forms of common text.
Laboratory also conducts researches of Ukrainian-English and English-Ukrainian machine translation principles, creates bi-lingual and terminological dictionaries, programs for human speech analysis and synthesis.
